Securing a Rural Estate in England – A Bespoke RuralGuard Installation

RuralGuard rural estate security installation

Most of our customers install their RuralGuard cameras themselves — that's the point. But every now and then a project comes along that demands something more. This was one of those jobs.

A rural estate in England approached us needing complete security coverage across a multi-building property. Long cable runs, multiple outbuildings, unreliable internet, and a client who wanted everything done properly and future-proofed. We surveyed the site, designed a bespoke system, and got to work.

What We Installed

The system centred on 15+ Dahua AI IP cameras, selected specifically for the site's layout and security requirements. The camera mix included 8MP 180-degree panoramic units for wide-area 4K coverage, and 6MP TiOC Pro cameras with built-in sirens, strobe lights and two-way audio for active deterrence in high-risk zones.

Every camera feeds into intrusion detection zones with instant push notifications — so the client knows the moment something happens, not the morning after.

Cable infrastructure was a significant part of this job. We ran CAT6 from one end of the estate to the other, protected throughout in Copex conduit, and installed a high-spec switch and network beam system to bridge connectivity between the main house and a secondary building. We worked alongside the on-site builders to trench cables neatly and ensure clean access to every location.

Access Control

Beyond the camera system, we installed a full access control solution to manage and record entry across the property. The client now has complete control over who accesses which areas and when — with a log of every entry event tied into the wider security infrastructure.

ANPR Camera

We also installed an ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) camera at the main entrance. Every vehicle approaching the property is now logged automatically — giving the client a searchable record of all vehicle movements and an additional layer of deterrence for anyone approaching with bad intent.

What's Next

This project is ongoing. As the client's building work progresses we will return to install a smart Ajax alarm system, add a video doorbell, decommission the existing wired alarm, and connect the whole site to 24/7 professional monitoring. The infrastructure we've already put in place makes all of that straightforward.

Is This Right for You?

A project like this isn't for everyone — and it doesn't need to be. The vast majority of our customers protect their farms and rural properties with our self-install 4G cameras, which are up and running in minutes with no engineer required.

But if you have a larger estate, multiple buildings, or specific requirements that go beyond a standard camera setup — we can help with that too. Survey, design, installation, and ongoing support included.
